Baby's New Friends

For Valentine's Day Joe gave me and the baby a couple of new friends that will live in the baby's room. The first one is this dude, he is an Ugly Doll.

Here is the other one.. MOD sock monkey.

They have both settled in pretty well, and they can't wait to meet Baby Boeckman!

The last Valentine's gift from Joe (Daddy) was this cool growth chart.

The Final Piece Has Arrived!

Well we were a little worried for a while because the dresser was unavailable for about two months. But finally Target got some in stock, and I put in my order immediately. So our last piece of furniture is assembled and ready to go. Now all we really have to do is finish some last little details and put new things away as we get them. You might wonder why the wall is blank above the dresser, but don't worry that is where the Alphabet poster will go, once I find the right frame for it.

This lamp was actually mine when I was a baby. Pretty cool, huh? So we have a little vintage piece for the room. I was pretty excited to discover this last time I was at home visiting Mom & Dad. Dad had a whole table of stuff laying out for me to go through. And among that was a few lamps from my childhood. I was excited when I saw this one because it not only matched our theme, but the colors matched perfect too! I guess I can't be too hard on Mom & Dad for never getting rid of things.. HA!

Just Getting Started - Part II

Well it took a little longer than I had planned to find the right frames for the artwork that we bought. But FINALLY, I found some white modern frames. So then we were able to hang up these two pieces of art.

We just found these cool orange pillows this weekend at Target. I have't had any luck finding a cushion for the window seat/toy box, but I keep looking. And I still have to decide on window treatments.

That papason chair has been through a lot - four years of college and four years of marriage. Now a couple of new cushions later -- its still super comfortable and we can't seem to part with it. We haven't decided if we want to splurge on a upholstered rocker/glider or just stick with the papason chair. Guess you'll just have to wait and see...

We were just randomly at Hobby Lobby one day, and found this cute artwork. It matched our colors and theme perfect!

Well I couldn't stand the suspense, so I went ahead and put the crib bedding in there. Just to see how it looked. It still needs a bed skirt though.

That is it on the nursery for now. We are still waiting for one more piece of furniture to arrive - chest of drawers. I'd say we have a pretty good start and things are really coming along.

Just Getting Started - Part I

Well the first step to starting the nursery was picking out the colors and getting the room painted. Joe worked really hard during his Christmas Break to get all of the painting done. When he starts a project, he is kinda like a MAD man, he doesn't stop until he is finished. I wasn't able to get many pictures, since I was at work most of the time he was busy painting.

The next big task was to assemble all of the new baby furniture. Joe doesn't have much patience for building things, but I like to do that kinda stuff. So I asked my good friend Holly to come over and help me out. Of course like many furniture projects we hit a couple of snags, I broke one bolt and of course there were no extra pieces, so we had to make a mad dash to the hardware store. In the end it all worked out. At least we didn't put any pieces together backwards, or drill new holes that we really didn't need (Dad I figured you would appreciate that comment)

Not bad, the crib was coming along. The crib actually wasn't too hard to assemble, we had already assembled the changing table so we were kinda familiar with the hardware, etc.

Now we just had to assemble the drawers. And it was a done deal. By the way, I look like total crap in these pictures, but I'm building furniture.. what can I say?

What a masterpiece! Now it just needs the cute animal bedding and a little baby boy to cuddle up in it.
