Meeting Grandma & Grandpa from Kansas

My parents had been practically sitting next to their phone for a few weeks, with their bags packed, just waiting for me to have some signs of labor. Ha! They say you know your really close to labor when you Mom and Mother-in-Law call you all of the time. Well that's true. I think my mom started calling me three times a day. And every conversation ended with "Now call us when your water breaks, or if anything happens." Like they think we would forget to tell them... ha ha.

Anyway I called my parents in the middle of the night. And Joe kept them updated throughout the labor. They left first thing in the morning and arrived shortly after lunch.

I've been close to my parents my entire life. Being the baby and being so much younger than my three brothers I grew up almost kinda like an only child. In that I was the only one at home for a good chunk of my life. I have always felt very blessed getting to spend so much time with my parents and getting along with them so well. They sacrificed a lot deciding to have me later in life, when they could have been done raising kids and been doing other things. But I'm forever grateful for that and everything they do. I miss them very much since I live five hours away. I don't tell them that enough. And when life gets busy its hard to even talk to them enough. But I'm so thankful that could be here again for my second child. Having kids is one of the greatest moments in life and I wouldn't want two of the most special people in my life to miss it. Ok just needed to say that. I'll stop being mushy : )

My parents stayed for the weekend. They helped us around the house, which was great for when I arrived home from the hospital. My dad always brings some vintage suprises for Cooper (see in another post). And Cooper loves getting to see them. And being able to have 'two' Grandma's in the same room. Its always great to have them here. It went by fast with all of the craziness. But I'm so glad that they could be here and meet Gwen when she was brand new.

Big Brother Meets Gwen

So we dropped Cooper off at Grandma's in the middle of the night. Thursday they were both anxiously awaiting for us to give them the "OK" to come up and see Gwen. Cooper was her first visitior, as it should be. Joe and I had been waiting to see his face when he actually got to see her. It was pretty cute.

We had decided to give Cooper a gift from Gwen, something fun for him to open at the hospital. So here is is patiently waiting to open his 'big brother gift'.

And of course he decided to make one of his super hero poses.

Gwen knew exactly what to get. A new Octonaunt toy. And a minion toy from Despicable Me.

Still trying to figure out his new view finder. He has it upside down.

Then Cooper got his turn at holding Gwen with Daddy's help.

Cooper is going to be a great big brother.

The Arrival - Part II

Ok here are just a few photos from Gwyneth's actual arrival.
